We have shortened our Spring Flotilla float to 2.5 miles, from Ferry Street Landing to Goliad State Park. We’ve had to do this due to the closure of the Hwy 59 Landing and not feeling comfortable have paddlers do the 18 miles from Riverdale Bridge Landing to GSP. We know this distance feels too short for many of our regular paddlers and are working to find a longer route for our Fall Flotilla.
For the Spring Flotilla we are pushing for our participants to enjoy floating the River this time vs rushing to complete the paddle. And while they are enjoying the float consider doing one or both of the below activities:
1. Take photos of any and all species (plants, animals, birds, bugs, fish) and post them on https://www.inaturalist.org/ . We want to document all species on our river.
2. Take photos to submit in this year’s San Antonio River Authority’s River Clicks Photo Contest - https://www.sariverauthority.org/photocontest/ You could win one of the many prizes. This year’s contest is honoring the Goliad Paddling Trails 25th Anniversary.

The Goliad Paddling Trail Riverdale, and Ferry Street landing site improvements are now complete and open to the public. The Highway 59 is closed for highway construction for the next 2-3 years. The Ferry Street landing site improvements include paving of the previously unpaved stretch of Ferry Street. Materials for both landing site improvement projects were funded by Canoe Trail Goliad, in cooperation with the San Antonio River Authority. See before and after photos of the landing site improvements.
